T.I.A – This is Africa

Quick Update

We just got back from Safari in Zambia. It was awesome. It takes forever for the internet to work here when it’s even available so I will update everything when we get home, a process which will start in 10 days:) Kyle and Dr. Snyder have been able to update their blogs more often since they have not been doing hearing clinics and have their computers with them to pre type updates. Our Audiology group has almost 80 clinical hours logged so far. The need here is insane! We could stay for 10 years! The ears here are very very sick!

Tomorrow we head North from Lilongwe to Nakata bay. It will be our first time seeing the Lake up close. Everyone is doing well but we are all homesick and ready to come home.

Miss everyone. Oh yeah LIONS ARE AWESOME!!!!

Monday June 28th

We arrive in JoBerg SA. This airport is really nice. There is soccer stuff everywhere and diamonds. Everyone is exhausted. We have a layover before flying to Nairobi, Kenya. That is another 5 hour flight. South Africa is cold at arounf 37 F and windy and over cast. People are all over the airport from the world cup. I wish we could go.

Sunday June 27th

Arrived in NY at 2:30 am Phoenix time! Have a 6 hour layover. Kristi and I stayed up all night playing RockBand on my ipod as to acclimate to Africa time. Airport security is not strong in NY, at least if you are going to Africa. As soon as we got onto the airplane Kristi and I passed out which was bad because we missed our dinner. Kristi’s gluten free meal was pie filling.

Saturday, July 3rd

In Narobi…

Happy Birthday Eli and Mom and happy Fourth of July. I only have a few seconds so I cannot upload pics yet and I have a lot. We were very busy in Bondo, Kenya. We had 3 12 hours days of Audiology and saw about 200 people. It is green and beautiful there…right on the equator. Tomorrow we leave for Malawi. Hope all is well. We all miss everyone! Miss you Greg, Hi Kids.

Day 2 or is it 3 ?

We have finally landed in South Africa after a 15 hour plane ride. I am trying to blog from my iPod so I don’t have pictures yet. Most of us have barely slept. We have a 6 hour layover before getting on a flight to Narobi Kenya for another wonderfully squished 6 hours. We are all surviving off of gummy worms, coffee, and beef jerky. Everyone is looking forward to real food. Hope it’s not goat or fish!

It is cold here, about 37 F. The terrain reminds me of Northern California. Already checked out the airport shops for the way home that elephant tree liquor is only about 15 bucks vuvuzellas are about 12 bucks. Soccer and rugby clothes are everywhere.
